The
Palais Royale
was the rickety bar two doors down from my old apartment in Albany,
NY. Go back in time to 2000, step inside and here's what you'll
see: a gigantic blonde barmaid so large she once literally clawed
a would-be thief into submission, kid-sized bottles of beer, a
layer of secondhand smoke so thick it could drop a puma, TWO jukeboxes,
and enough grit, grime, knickknacks & cancerous paneling to
make even the hardest worn frat house stand and salute with a
tear in its eye.
LONG
LIVE THE FUCKIN' PALAIS!
These
drawings were created within the course of a few Saturday evenings
at the Palais in 2000 & 2001 by Aaron Holz, Brant Moorefield,
Kim Hugo, Janssen Stegner, Mike Schuetz, Chris Carson, Sara DiDanato,
Matt Hamilton, Monique Prohaska, Maria Ermides, Michelle Wright
& myself. The rules were simple: work on the drawing for a
while, and then pass it along.
